Run for Life
A Community Marathon for Healthy Hearts
A flagship annual health initiative using sport, medical outreach, and media engagement to fight hypertension and promote healthy living in rural and peri-urban communities.
Event Details
Why This Initiative Matters
Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a silent killer affecting millions of Africans, many of whom are unaware of their condition until severe complications arise. In rural and underserved communities, access to regular health screening, health education, and lifestyle guidance remains limited.
World Hypertension Day provides a powerful global platform to:
- Raise awareness
- Encourage preventive action
- Promote early detection
- Inspire long-term healthy habits
This marathon transforms awareness into action.
Who This Initiative Is For
The Problem
- • High rates of undiagnosed hypertension
- • Sedentary lifestyles
- • Poor nutrition habits

The Solution
A community-centered marathon combined with on-the-spot medical outreach:
- ✓ Promote regular physical exercise
- ✓ Encourage healthy eating (fruits & vegetables)
- ✓ Advocate for hydration and reduced salt intake
